How to choose VTNE prep

Six questions to ask about any VTNE prep before you pay for it. They work for a question bank, a course, an app or a book. We’ve put our own answer under each one, so you can hold us to the same test.

1. Can you check where each answer comes from?

A practice question is only as good as its answer key. If an explanation names the book it came from, you can open that book, confirm the answer, and read around it. If it names nothing, you are taking the answer on trust. Look for a named source on each answer, not one bibliography for the whole product.

The AAVSB, which runs the exam, publishes a list of textbook references on its Study for the VTNE page. It is a useful list to check sources against.

How VTNE Rounds answers it: Every answer shows the textbook it came from and where to find it. The explanations cover why the right answer is right and why the others aren’t.

2. Does it renew on its own?

Some prep is a subscription that keeps charging until you cancel, including after your exam. Before you enter a card, find the words “renews”, “billed every” or “subscription” in the terms, and find out how to cancel.

How VTNE Rounds answers it: Pay once; nothing renews. When a pass ends, your account goes back to the free sample. See pricing.

3. Is it built on the current ten-domain AAVSB outline?

The current VTNE content outline, approved by the AAVSB in March 2023, splits the 150 scored questions across ten domains, each with a set number of items. Prep built on an older or different outline can show a different number of domains or different weights. Compare what a product lists with the ten domains and their weights.

How VTNE Rounds answers it: 1,000 questions across the ten AAVSB domains, weighted like the exam’s content outline.

4. What is the refund policy?

Read it before you pay, not after. Check whether sales are final, what happens to your access if you are refunded, and whether any “guarantee” comes with conditions you would have to meet first.

How VTNE Rounds answers it: All sales are final. We refund where the law requires it and for billing errors, such as being charged twice. That is why the free sample exists: try it before you pay. Read the refund policy.

5. Who built it?

Look for a named person with a credential, not just a brand. A name is someone who is accountable for the content and someone you can write to when an answer looks wrong.

How VTNE Rounds answers it: Built by Ari Kleine, an RVT with five years in emergency and critical care. Why she built it.

6. Is there a free sample?

A sample lets you read real explanations before you pay. Check whether you can see why an answer is right, whether the questions make you think or just recall, and whether it asks for a card before you have seen anything.

How VTNE Rounds answers it: Try it free, no card. The free sample has questions from all ten domains. Make a free account.

One more thing

We can’t promise you a pass, and nobody honestly can. We can show you exactly where every answer comes from.
